Queensland Airports Limited’s executive team works alongside our board to drive value for our shareholders through strategic growth, operational excellence, and regional connectivity. Together, they oversee the airport’s development, ensuring we continue to serve passengers, partners and the wider community.
Amelia Evans - Chief Executive Officer
Amelia was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Queensland Airports Limited in July 2022 and previously held the role of Chief Financial Officer.
Amelia is responsible for setting the strategic direction and leads an experienced team to deliver exceptional airport experiences and major infrastructure projects - creating sustainable outcomes for all stakeholders.
Amelia has over 25 years of experience in strategy, finance, operations and transformation in Australia and globally - including the Solomon Islands, UK, USA and Caribbean. Her diverse experience includes roles in Ernst & Young, Qantas, British Telecom, Energex, IGA and Private equity.
Amelia has a strong commitment to action for impact, with a values-based leadership approach, and is a passionate advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Amelia is a member of Australian Institute of Company Directors and Institute of Chartered Accountants. She is currently a Pro Chancellor, Council member and Chair of the Infrastructure and Finance Committee for Griffith University, a Non-Executive Director of LifeFlight Australia and panel member for Gold Coast Nature Based Tourism. She has previously held Non-Executive Director roles with Destination Gold Coast, National Trust Queensland and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
Marion Charlton – Chief Operating Officer
Marion has an impressive track record in business and aviation domestically and abroad. Since joining QAL, Marion has held a variety of senior roles including her current position of Chief Operating Officer.
Marion is responsible for managing operations at QAL’s four airports, as well as overseeing the group’s non-aeronautical revenue with precinct partners across retail, food and beverage, parking and ground transport. Her role also encompasses Health, Safety & Environment, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting the safety, wellbeing and environmental performance of our people and operations.
In recent years, Marion oversaw the transformational Gold Coast Airport terminal expansion, which doubled Gold Coast Airport’s footprint delivering an innovative flexible operation. Marion worked at Atlanta and Sydney airports during the 1996 and 2000 Olympics and was in Glasgow during the 2014 Commonwealth Games, using this experience to deliver the 2018 Games experience at the Gold Coast Airport. Marion has strong ties to the community and is a past Trustee with the Currumbin Wildlife Foundation and past Chair of Placemakers responsible for the Bleach Festival. She currently sits on the board of Bond University and is an assessment panel member of Gold Coast Citizen of the Year awards.
Adam Rowe – Chief of Aviation
Since joining QAL in 2017, as General Manager Business Development and Marketing, Adam has held a variety of senior leadership roles, including Executive General Manager and Chief Commercial Officer.
As Chief of Aviation, Adam is responsible for leading QAL’s aviation development and airline partnerships, working with airline partners and tourism bodies to grow domestic and international capacity across QAL’s airports. In addition to this, Adam is overseeing the creation of a new data excellence function for QAL, bringing new insights, analytics and business intelligence expertise to the airport group. He brings over 15 years of industry experience to the role, having previously held a number of senior management and executive roles within the airline industry, working for Virgin Australia and Tigerair.
David Hedges – Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary
David re-joined QAL in January 2019 having previously held various executive roles within the Group between 2010 and 2014. He is a generalist lawyer with extensive experience as general counsel and company secretary within Australian airports and the tourism and property sectors.
David is responsible for QAL’s legal and governance functions as well as the Group’s company secretarial role. His professional experience has been gained as an executive working within major national and multinational corporations and his expertise lies in an ability to successfully lead and manage legal and governance within highly regulated, dynamic and intensely competitive environments.
David has also worked with Australia’s preeminent indigenous organisation, the ILC and its subsidiary, Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia and was also a director of the Mutitjulu Foundation, a successful not-for-profit established to improve the lives of Uluru’s traditional owners. In addition to David’s professional expertise, he has a passion for social equity, aboriginal advancement and ethics. He is a long standing member of The Ethics Centre, a member of various legal and governance groups as well as an associate member of the Queensland Indigenous Lawyers Association.
Ben Daly – Chief Financial Officer
Ben is the Chief Financial Officer of QAL, a role he has held since 2022 after joining the organisation in 2019 as General Manager Finance. Ben leads a high-performing team responsible for shaping and executing QAL’s financial strategy across its portfolio of four airports. His remit spans Treasury, Tax, Corporate Finance, Financial Control and Performance, as well as Technology, Procurement, the Group Program Management Office, and Group Risk.
With over two decades of experience in Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions, Operations, and Transformation, Ben brings deep expertise in managing complex financial environments and driving strategic outcomes. He began his career in operational aviation before transitioning into corporate roles, where he developed a reputation for delivering commercial insights and transformational initiatives that create long-term value.
Ben has held senior finance, commercial, and transformation positions in some of Australia’s most prominent organisations, including Sydney Airport, Origin Energy, Ampol, and Qantas. His experience spans industries such as aviation, utilities, and infrastructure, giving him a unique perspective on managing financial performance in dynamic and highly regulated sectors.
Shannon McFadden – Chief Strategy, Brand and People Officer
Shannon joined QAL’s executive team in 2023, initially as Chief Strategy, Sustainability and People Officer, and now serves as Chief Strategy, Brand and People Officer.
In her role, Shannon leads QAL’s enterprise strategy and oversees the organisation’s brand, sustainability agenda, stakeholder engagement, communications, and people & culture functions. She is focused on shaping QAL’s long-term direction, strengthening the company’s reputation, and building a high-performing, future-ready organisation. She brings deep experience in strategy, stakeholder engagement, business operations and talent leadership.
Prior to QAL, Shannon spent more than 18 years at Bain & Company, advising companies across Australia, the US, Europe and Asia in sectors including retail, consumer products, media & entertainment, financial services and private equity. She also held senior operational roles, leading the human capital function, supporting strategy development and mobilisation, and overseeing day-to-day commercial operations for Bain Australia.
Brian McGuckin – Chief Property and Planning Officer
Brian has extensive experience across the Property and Development sectors and was appointed as QAL’s Chief Property and Planning Officer in March 2023. Brian oversees QAL’s experienced Property and Planning team in the delivery of major projects such as Airport Master Plans, Infrastructure upgrades and the planning and facilitation of ongoing development projects. He also oversees the airport’s assets and maintenance functions, ensuring the ongoing performance and sustainability of QAL’s key infrastructure.
Brian previously held roles at Springfield City Group and Leighton Properties. In these leadership roles he delivered multiple complex and sustainable building and precinct developments to a value in excess of $1.5Bn both to design development and delivery in the Commercial Office, Retail, Hotel, Hospitality, Manufacturing and Education sectors.
