Gold Coast Airport

Gold Coast Airport is the gateway to Australia’s premier tourist destination supporting one of the country’s fastest-growing regions and welcoming over six million passengers annually.

Uniquely positioned on the Queensland–New South Wales border, it serves as a vital link for tourists, travellers, and locals alike, facilitating seamless access to some of the most sought-after national and international destinations.

Gold Coast Airport was privatised by the Federal Government in May 1998, with more than $500 million invested by QAL in infrastructure improvements since then.

Where we fly

Servicing only three destinations in 1998, the airport now connects the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales to the rest of the country and beyond.

The Destination

The Gold Coast is one of Australia’s fastest growing cities, and the largest non-capital city with a population of over 700,000.

Tourism is a driving force of Gold Coast’s economy. In the year ending December 2024, it delivered 13M visitors, spending over $8.1B. The destination’s major draw cards include world-class theme parks, famous surf beaches, World Heritage Listed rainforest, an action-packed events calendar, unlimited shopping, and nightlife.

The Gold Coast stretches along the most southern 57 kilometres of Queensland’s coastline. The airport’s footprint straddles New South Wales’ border providing easy access for visitors seeking holidays around the states’ iconic Byron Bay.
