Cultural Heritage & RAP

Across our airports – Gold Coast, Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach – we acknowledge and pay respect to the Traditional Custodians and their enduring connection to Country.

Recognising Cultural Heritage

Ongoing engagement with our cultural heritage stakeholders, including Elders, Traditional Custodians and representative cultural heritage groups helps build our understanding of the cultural values of the landscapes within which we operate.

Consideration of these values and broader reconciliation actions forms a key component in the planning, development and day-to-day operation of our airports.

Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

Queensland Airports Limited commenced its first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan in June 2025, as a a formal commitment to advancing reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the regions in which we operate, regardless of changes in our team, management or ownership. We also want to use the RAP process to help us better understand what role QAL can play in Australia’s broader reconciliation process.

Through this Reflect RAP, we are focused on 44 deliverables to strengthen relationships, deepen respect and create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This work brings our purpose – to ‘connect people, places and communities’ – to life in a meaningful way.
