QAL Organisational Structure

The QAL corporate group structure provides specialist resources in functional areas to ensure an overarching corporate ethos to all airports owned by QAL. This group structure was designed to achieve synergies across all airports and deliver a sustainable return on investment to shareholders, stakeholders and customers.

QAL Executive Management Team

The QAL Executive Management team consists of:

Managing Director, Dennis Chant Dennis Chant is the Managing Director of Queensland Airports Limited. Dennis has 36 years experience in the aviation, maritime and tourism industries in Australia and internationally.In his twelve years with QAL, he has initiated marketing and development strategies focussed on the destination potential. Dennis and his team have had responsibility for acquisition of Townsville and Mount Isa Airports and developing Queensland Airports Limited into the largest operator of regional airports in Australia.Dennis is a member of the World Governing Board of Airports Council International (ACI) and the Honorary Secretary/Treasurer and a member of ACI’s Asia Pacific Regional Board. He is also a Board member of the Commonwealth Games Bid Company.

Paul Donovan Chief Operating Officer Gold Coast Airport, Paul Donovan With more than 30 years experience in aviation and tourism, Paul Donovan has held several executive appointments with airlines in Australia and New Zealand including Qantas, Ansett and Air New Zealand.Since joining QAL in 2005, he has overseen several key projects for Gold Coast Airport including the airport master plan, runway extension, design and planning for a $100 million terminal redevelopment, the long term car park extension and the development of Terminal 2 for Tiger Airways. Paul is also involved in attracting and growing airline partnerships to the Airport.Paul has been a member of the Gold Coast Tourism Board for three years and was elected Chairman in 2008.

Kevin Gill Chief Operating Officer Regional Airports (Townsville and Mount Isa Airports), Kevin Gill Kevin Gill has 17 years experience in aviation and has held executive positions in airlines in Australia and New Zealand including Air New Zealand and MacAir.Since joining QAL in 2008, Kevin has been involved in a range of programs and initiatives to develop Townsville and Mount Isa Airports. This has seen significant airport development at Mount Isa and a number of new airlines commenced operating through both Townsville and Mount Isa Airports. This has included Regional Express who have set up their Queensland base in Townsville.Kevin is a board member of Townsville Enterprise since 2008, becoming Chair of the Destination and Tourism Strategy Advisory Committee in 2009.

Craig Shaw General Manager Corporate Services, Craig Shaw With 20 years experience in a range of infrastructure from health, electricity, civil construction and local government operations Craig is a specialist Human Resources practitioner by trade. Having held Executive level roles in both New Zealand and Australia Craig commenced with Queensland Airports Limited in 2008.The Corporate Services covers the areas of Human Resources, Information Technology and Corporate Affairs. His attention is dedicated to generating value for the business through provision of high quality support services. During his time at QAL his focus has largely been establishing staff development initiatives and focusing on staff retention strategies.Craig is a member of the Airports Council International Asia Pacific Human Resources Network.

General Manager Legal and Property, David Hedges David Hedges is an accomplished legal counsel and property executive with a demonstrated ability to successfully manage a diverse range of business issues within dynamic and intensely competitive environments.David has an extensive background in Commercial and Property Law, Tourism, Compliance and Governance, and Risk and Insurance, including building the Voyages’ portfolio from 1 to 14 resorts as well as the establishment of the Mutitjulu Foundation, a registered charity established for improving the lives of Central Australian Aboriginals.

Chief Financial Officer, David Collins David Collins brings a wealth of knowledge to the organisation. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia with more than twenty years membership, including having held committee positions as part of the CPA Australian Hospitality and Tourism Discussion Group and more recently as a Council Member of the CPA Australia Gold Coast branch. A graduate from The University of New South Wales, Mr Collins, was responsible for modernising the accounting system for one of the Gold Coast’s largest property development companies as well as involvement in the structuring of a then record sale of commercial real estate in Australia in 2005.

Company Secretary, Stacey Hogarth Stacey Hogarth was appointed to the role of Company Secretary in July 2008. Stacey is a Chartered Secretary and her responsibilities include corporate governance, risk management, internal audit, insurance placement and management of the group’s legal matters.
